I have learned how to better interview my sources, to think of my readers while I write my stories and to show through my stories not tell. It has been surprising how many new friends I have made and will, hopefully, be able to stay in contact with. I am also excited to tell everyone at home that one of my stories has been edited by Tom French, a Pulitzer Prize winner.]]></content:encoded>

Today&#8217;s Lunch with a Pro session included <a href="http://journalism.indiana.edu/about-us/faculty-staff/bio/?person=1512" title="Tom French" tabindex="2">Tom French</a>, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter and current Riley Endowed Chair of Journalism at IU, and <a href="http://journalism.indiana.edu/about-us/faculty-staff/bio/?person=747" title="Anne Kibbler" tabindex="2">Anne Kibbler</a>, editor of the School of Journalism publication <em>Newswire </em>and lecturer for the school. Students gathered around the two at Wright Food Court to hear their tips for aspiring journalists. After lunch, French, whose new book <u><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Story-Life-Garden-Captives/dp/1401323464/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1278551781&amp;sr=8-1-fkmr1" title="Zoo Story: Life in the Garden of Captives" tabindex="2" target="_new">Zoo Story: Life in the Garden of Captives</a></u> was just released yesterday, joined Carmen Mann&#8217;s Feature Writing and Editing workshop in one of the Fine Arts building computer labs to provide feedback for her students on their stories. On the floor below, Tony Willis&#8217;s News Reporting and Writing class occupied another lab, where Willis&#8217;s students worked on their stories about Lauren Taylor of Middle Way House&#8217;s presentation from the night before.<br><br>After newspaper workshop class sessions dedicated to working on the stories, it was time for some leisure. Students from newspaper and other workshops ventured out into the heat for games of volleyball and ultimate frisbee, completing a healthy mix of work and play during Day 3 at the Institute. &nbsp; &nbsp;<br><br><br><br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;]]></content:encoded>

Each full day of camp, students have the opportunity to converse with real journalistic professionals at the Wright dining hall.<br><br>HSJI has herded quite an impressive group this week. Debnam answered questions about what to expect from a journalism major, how to academically prepare for college journalism, and how to score great internships. The students seemed especially interested in her advice for the more immediate future.<br><br>Other visitors included Indianapolis Star photographers, who were masterfully discussing technological changes in the industry and the uses of modern-day gadgets.<br><br>Today, IU&#8217;s favorite sports announcer Chuck Crabb shared his expertise in sports marketing and writing. Leigh Hedger, publications manager at the Indianapolis Star, and George McLaren, communications director for GE Rolls-Royce, joined him to discuss a business perspective.<br><br>So far, many students have participated in HSJI&#8217;s Lunch with a Pro event, but tomorrow no one will want to miss out. Pulitzer Prize winner Tom French will be present to discuss his award-winning feature writing.<br><br>]]></content:encoded>
