Jane Pauley: Journalist who deals with bipolar disorderJane Pauley is a famous journalist most known for her many jobs of being a reporter, anchor and television host. She was born on Oct. 31, 1950 in Indianapolis. Pauley graduated from Warren County Central High School and received a scholarship to Indiana University. She received a degree in political science. After graduating from IU, she became a host on NBC’s "Today Show" for 13 years and Dateline NBC for 11 years. She then had her own talk show for a year called "Real Life With Jane Pauley." She is married to cartoonist Garry Trudeau ("Doonesbury") and has three children, Ross, Rachel and Thomas. Jane publicly shares her bipolar disorder in her autobiography, Skywriting: A Life Out of the Blue, several years after she was diagnosed. She then later shared it on the "Today Show" with Matt Lauer. All of this is very inspiring to me, making her my favorite journalist. It was very courageous of her to share her illness with the world. She has overcome the struggle of having a mental illness and greatly succeeded regardless of all the hardships she has had to overcome. To hear more on Pauley’s disorder, watch her interview with Matt Lauer here. |
