HSJI in photos

A statue of acclaimed pianist and Bloomington native Hoagy Carmichael sits near the IU Auditorium. Tiffany Wong, a 10-11 grade level student from the Affiliated Senior High of National Taiwan Normal University sits at her computer desk contacting family back in Taiwan. Wong came to America in order to participate in the Desktop Design class at HSJI. "I want to learn some scales and experience to make my own little books," said Wong.

Preparing to take a swing at the on coming ball at the tennis court, IU neuroscience and psychology major Evan Appleton plays a receational game with a friend. "I used to play tennis on a club team here at IU, but I don’t have enough time and my classes got harder. I like to come out, relax, and play a few games when I got the time," said Appleton. George Long and Alison DenOtter celebrate their budding love on Kirkwood Avenue after a date at Noodles restaurant. "She makes me happy and her smile is contagious," said Long.
HSJI instructor Nick Kapke motivates his photojournalism students before sending them off to Kirkwood Avenue to complete a feature assignment. Standing on a ladder in the children’s section of the Monroe County Library, six-year-old Camden Watson along with the other children at the Kid City Summer Day Camp discover the knowledge that a library can contain. "I was finding movies that are Scooby Doo that I could take home because I collect Scooby Doo stuff," said Watson.
HSJI student Megan Trincot from Lake Central High School pays for an Avers pizza that some students ordered as an evening treat. "I get more liberties at HSJI than I do at home," said Trincot.
