HSJI Awards

Each session, outstanding HSJI students win awards for their week-long efforts at the concluding ceremonies. Here are several opportunities to be a scholar:
Jessica Haney
A student accepts her scholarship from the IU School of Journalism’s Dean Brad Hamm at the session 1 awards ceremony

•Instructors choose at least two students for classroom recognition

•Students compete in a writing contest in which winners are recognized in various categories

•One gleaming student wins money for the writing contest, called the Mary Benedict Memorial News Writing Contest prize, sponsored by HSJI alum Terry English

•Several Scholarships are awarded on behalf of the Office of Summer Sessions and Special Programs, the IU School of Journalism, and the David Adams Memorial IDS/Arbutus scholarship

•One photographer is nominated each week for the Randy Siddons Memorial scholarship, and the winner is decided after the last session of HSJI

It is often very hard to decide on awards amongst these talented young journos. Check to see who the winners are for each session!
