Teresa White shares her memories and former HSJI T-shirt
Yesterday, 172 eager high schoolers found their way to Teter to kick start this year’s first HSJI session.

Teresa White, HSJI Director, greeted the students in an introduction about the future of journalism, lasting relationships, and overall optimism.

White even shared some of her own memories from the Institute, which she attended in 1979. An old HSJI T-shirt and a pile of photos engaged the students in the meaning of these precious relationships. Lives intersect, White explained, and you never know when you will encounter another HSJI alum. Several are currently IU faculty.

From east to west coast, this year’s students are a diverse bunch. One has even come all the way from Korea. This week’s workshops include photojournalism, desktop design, yearbook, online journalism, and newspaper.

Stay tuned for upcoming events and examples of student work.
